Accounting Assistant – Full-Time or Part-Time

Location: Operations - Batavia, IL


Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking an Accounting Assistant who will contribute to the success of Eagle Flexible Packaging by assisting the Finance and Accounting department in the entering and compilation of data and generation of reports. This role will also support the preparation of financial statements. Opportunity to work FT or PT per preference. Full benefits package available for FT employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately input financial data into accounting software and systems.
  • Ensure timing and correct entry of invoices, purchase orders, and receipts.
  • File, organize, and maintain financial records and documents.
  • Respond to inquiries from and provide administrative support to the Finance and Accounting department.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance, ensuring accuracy in accounts payable and receivable records.
  • Report on manufacturing metrics, including production-related financial summaries.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Support in the preparation of financial performance reports.
  • Help prepare data for audits and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Assist with vendor reconciliations and reporting on outstanding payments.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a related accounting or bookkeeping role or associate level degree or higher in Accounting.
  • Basic PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with willingness and ability to learn financial and manufacturing software programs.
  • Sense of accountability, including record of good attendance.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while managing changing responsibilities.
  • Effective time management skills with ability to work independently and maximize productivity.
  • Strong general math skills with ability to apply basic accounting and mathematical principles to work.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to professionally communicate with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or higher level degree in Accounting or related financial discipline.
  • Experience with financial accounting software.
  • Enterprise reporting planning (ERP) system experience.

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour

  • Company Paid Short Term Disability – The Short Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long Term Disability – The Long Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance – The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO: The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 6 Company Paid Holidays – Eligible after 60 days of employment.

Sick Leave – Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).

Part-time team members are provided with the following benefits:

  • Vacation/PTO: Eligible to earn 1 hour of vacation/PTO for every 40 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours of vacation/PTO.
