Plate-Making Technician

Location: Operations - Waupun, WI


Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking a Plate-Making Technician who will contribute to the continued success and growth of Eagle by producing high-quality Photopolymer Plates and Elastomer Sleeves to meet production schedule and customer ship dates

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture Asahi Water Wash Photopolymer plates and Elastomer Sleeves in compliance with production schedules and customer ship dates, adhering to Eagle’s operational procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal room temperature and cleanliness to ensure proper plate-making conditions.
  • Cross-check digital plate files with proofs to ensure accuracy before production.
  • Utilize plate-making equipment to produce high-quality printing plates and sleeves.
  • Contribute to increased production capacity and efficiency by sharing best practices and insights on equipment usage, principals, and techniques.
  • Use a micrometer to verify that plates are within required tolerances.
  • Accurately record time and materials used for job billing and reporting purposes.
  • Adhere to Eagle’s quality control checks, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent output.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
  • Provide accurate inventory and consumable counts when required.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Mac computers and/or PCs.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to work independently and maximize productivity.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot a complex plate making system, including ability to stand for extended periods of time, perform fine motor movement, and routinely lift heavy materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity with ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe and ethical work practices.
  • Reliability and sense of accountability, including a record of good attendance.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Basic math skills, including demonstrated ability to read a ruler.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Willingness and ability to engage in occasional out-of-state travel (limited overnights).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or certification in graphic arts or other related field from an educational institution or formal training program.
  • Experience in a related plate-making and graphics role strongly desired.
  • Experience in the printing/publishing industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude

Pay: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour

  • 401K Plan – Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
  • Company Paid Short Term Disability – The Short Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long Term Disability – The Long Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance – The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO: The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 6 Company Paid Holidays – Eligible after 60 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave – Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).
