Press Department Coordinator

Location: Management - Waupun, WI


Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking a Press Department Coordinator who will contribute to the continued success and growth of Eagle by coordinating Press Department activities and ensuring that materials are produced as efficiently and with the highest quality possible. The Coordinator will also operate equipment as needed. Currently hiring for 1st shift.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Press Department activities. As needed, provide hands-on support to maintain efficient, quality production.
    • Ensure all prepress, press, and coordination responsibilities are ready a minimum of 24 hours before each job starts, assisting in the management of necessary schedule changes: carts are prepped, staged, and cleaned (i.e., anilox rollers, metering rolls, pans, hoses, and doctor blades) and material is staged at the press (proper size, specification, and amount), ink is mixed and ready in the staging area). Plates — complete sets — good quality — identify 24 hours prior to run on repeat items. Must identify and document if back-ups are available.
    • Identify and segregate pouching setup materials, coordinating with pouching department.
    • Participate in problem analysis and determination, along with corrective action implementation of internal and external customer complaints.
    • Work with Maintenance and Operators to troubleshoot technical issues on the Presses.
    • Troubleshoot press issues, particularly any issues related to matching colors.
    • Support the management of shift changes, ensuring an effective handoff of jobs and responsibilities between shifts.
    • Act as the inventory manager and lead auditor for the accuracy and cleanliness of anilox and associated tooling and equipment.
    • Provide leadership with input and feedback on opportunities for improvement and KPI development and tracking.
    • Collaborate with operations leadership to continually challenge and reduce costs elimination of waste, reduce overtime, etc.
  • As needed, set up and operate the press(es).
  • Develop proficiency in ink dispensing and plate mounting procedures and act as a backup for these functions as needed (e.g., during vacations and breaks).
  • Assist with on-the-job training and development of current employees and new hires.
  • In partnership with site leadership, implement and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicate any mechanical or equipment issues to operations leadership as well as Maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Take a leadership role when it comes to quality, assisting with checks and conducting root cause analyses.
  • Work with operations leadership to review and provide input on training materials, validations, processes, and program development.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the printing industry, including demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of flexographic printing processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability troubleshoot and make informed and quick decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software with proven ability to learn complex new software programs.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English with excellent communication skills with ability to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Positive attitude and approach to work responsibilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to develop productive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Excellent work ethic with willingness to learn, teach, and grow.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, kneel, and stoop for extended periods, and safely lift 50 pounds or more.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging industry.
  • Proficient in the use of densitometer and supporting software.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors as well as good understanding of color space and variations (i.e., L*a*b*).
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Additional Information: This position requires the ability to adjust work hours to meet business needs, and regular workweeks in excess of 40 hours are anticipated.

  • Company Paid Short Term Disability – The Short Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long Term Disability – The Long Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance – The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO: The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 6 Company Paid Holidays – Eligible after 60 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave – Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).
