Second Shift Supervisor

Location: Management - Waupun, WI


Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking a Shift Supervisor who will contribute to the success of Eagle Flexible Packaging (“Eagle”) by leading all operations and employees in a flexible packaging printing and converting environment on designated shift: plans and assigns work to ensure that production standards are met or exceeded; evaluates and addresses performance; and leads training, quality, and safety initiatives. This is a working supervisor position with the supervisor occasionally expected to operate production equipment in addition to team leadership responsibilities. Currently hiring for 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all shift production personnel, including preparing for and conducting regular check-ins (performance review and goal-setting meetings), recommending compensation changes, managing time and attendance, and addressing performance concerns as needed.
  • Schedule all shift personnel to achieve required production scheduling outcomes, maximize operational effectiveness, and achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Setup and operate flexible packaging converting machines. Monitor machine operation to ensure it is running safely and efficiently and that it is producing quality material.
  • Lead and coordinate all new hire training, as well as continuing education for existing personnel.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Determine current baseline departmental efficiencies and implement steps to monitor and improve through-put, waste, and downtime.
  • Take a leadership role when it comes to quality, assisting with quality checks throughout the shift and signing off on job approvals; make quality related decisions and maintain responsible for all quality issues on shift.
  • Participate in the problem analysis determination and corrective action implementation of internal and external customer complaints.
  • Conduct regular meetings on shift, maintaining a collaborative and open environment for discussion.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Eagle’s preventive maintenance program and notify maintenance in the event of any equipment problems or necessary repairs.
  • Ensure that good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed throughout shift.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other production leaders to control all areas of production costs to meet manufacturing cost / budget targets and continually challenge and reduce costs by means of elimination of waste, reduced overtime, etc.
  • Implement an effective safety training program and ensure that safe workplace safety standards are always maintained.
  • Support material handling needs through shift on an as needed basis, including forklift operation.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of production machinery to be able to assist Operators as needed with troubleshooting, setups, and operation.
  • Partner with Plant Manager on changes in business procedures and special projects including projects to more effectively leverage enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, improve production metrics, control costs, and support installation and implementation of new machinery.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience, including leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including proven ability to coach and motivate team members and address performance concerns.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability troubleshoot and make informed and quick decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Capacity to set priorities, goals, and timelines to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software with proven ability to learn complex new software programs.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Valid driver’s license is required at time of hire.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to continuously stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to stoop and kneel frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging and/or printing industries.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, ideally EFI Radius.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
